Andrew McManus is joined by fiddler Tessa Thistlethwaite, and Mark Whalen Jr. on percussion. Andrew is a singer-songwriter originally from Armagh, Northern Ireland, now residing here in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up during the tail-end of the Troubles in Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland near the two St. Patrick’s Cathedrals and the ancient Celtic site of Emain Macha, Andrew was heavily influenced by the local history and legend. These stories deeply inspired his creativity and a love for Irish art and folk music.
Along with his music, Andrew is a full-time architect and artist who has developed his own unique style of Celtic knotworks with “McManus Celtic Art.”
Tessa Thistlethwaite and Mark Whalen Jr both reside locally in Northeast Ohio. Tessa has played fiddle from a young age and is sought after at feiseanna around the nation. Mark is well known locally for his drumming skills both on the drum kit and also on bass drum while performing with the Great Lakes Pipe Band.
The Andrew McManus Trio’s music aims to rise above the divisions caused by the Troubles in Northern Ireland, looking forward with positive messages to uplift the spirit.
